Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Man Injured by Improvised Explosive Device

On Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at approximately 2:40 pm Deputies and Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division responded to a residence on the 1000 block of W Hwy 25/70 on a report of a man that had been injured by a improvised explosive device. Upon arrival Deputies located the victim Nathaniel Evans age 18 of Oak Grove Rd Madisonville, Tn. He had flash burns to his face and both arms. The victim stated that he had made the device from gunpowder in an attempt blow out a stump on the property and as the victim was igniting the device it detonated. The victim was transported to UTER by Jefferson County EMS with non life threatening injuries. The investigation continues.
