Sevier County Sheriff's Office Reward Offered

A reward is being offered in the double homicide of two Sevier County residents that occurred in December 2021 on Asheville Highway. James B. Dunn, District Attorney General of the Fourth Judicial District, has announced that his office in conjunction and partnership with Sevier County Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has offered a reward for any information in the unsolved death of Edward Atkins and Melissa Smith, which occurred on December 24, 2021 in Sevier County. Governor Bill Lee has issued a reward of $10,000.00 in the case. The reward will be available to the person or persons providing information leading to the apprehension, arrest, and conviction of any person or persons responsible for the killing of Edward Atkins and Melissa Smith. General Dunn requests that anyone who has information about this matter to please contact the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department at 865-453-4668, the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department website, or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation tip line at 1-800 TBI-FIND, you may also contact the District Attorney General’s Office at 865-429-7021. The conditions imposed by Tennessee Code Annotated §40-8-101 et seq. shall apply to any person entitled to a reward from the State.
