On Wednesday, June 15th at 7:22 pm deputies were dispatched to an address on Hicks Rd in Jefferson City for a report of an ATV accident. Upon arrival, the victim was being treated by Lakeway Central Fire Department First Responders and Jefferson County EMS. The investigation and witness statements revealed that the victim was a passenger on the ATV that was being operated by her uncle in an open field and as he was slowing down when the ATV accelerated, the operator swerved to miss a parked cattle trailer where the victim was thrown and struck the trailer. The victim was transported by Lifestar to UT Medical Center. We are sadden to report that the victim, LauraBeth Childress age 15 of Valley Creek Rd., Jefferson City died of her injuries early this morning. We ask everyone to remember this family in your thoughts and prayers. No charges are expected to be filed at this time.
