In early 2026, Newport TN Opco, LLC ranked as the leading nursing home by size in Cocke County, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.

The facility offered 150 beds—47 more than the county average for that quarter—and accommodated an average of 88.1 residents per day.

The CMS assigned Newport TN Opco, LLC an overall rating of 3 out of 5, which matches the statewide average rating for Tennessee nursing homes.

Also in the quarter, Tennova Newport Convalescent Center was recognized as the second largest with 56 beds in Cocke County.

By the close of the first quarter of 2026, Newport TN Opco, LLC maintained a spotless record regarding fines and penalties.

Cocke County, Tennessee, had two for-profit nursing homes in operation for the period.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate that the nation’s older population is on the rise while the number of youth declines. Between 2020 and 2024, people age 65 and older grew by 13%, while those under 18 decreased by 1.7%. The older adult population has surged over the last century, expanding from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

Research published in 2021 estimates that about half of older adults—nearly 28 million—may need long-term services, with over one-third projected to require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
