During the first quarter of 2026, Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center was recognized as the largest nursing home by bed count in Jefferson County, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The available data indicates the facility provided 170 beds, which is 20 more than the county average at that time. On average, the center served 151.8 residents in that quarter.

The CMS gave Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center an overall rating of 2 out of 5. This was below Tennessee’s nursing home average rating of 3.

In the same quarter, Jefferson County Nursing Home held the second-largest bed capacity in the county at 160 beds. Life Care Center of Jefferson City ranked third, offering 121 beds.

As of Q1 2026, Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center had incurred $8,788 in a single fine and received one penalty.

There were two for-profit nursing homes in Jefferson County, Tennessee, in total.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates show that America’s population of older adults is rising while numbers in younger age groups are declining. From 2020 to 2024, citizens 65 and older grew by 13%, but those under 18 decreased by 1.7%. Over the previous century, the older population surged, growing from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

A study published in 2021 found that nearly half of this demographic—about 28 million people—are likely to need long-term services and support, and more than a third are expected to eventually require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
